Crown
Norge : In April 1996
Ulf established Crown Norge as a company specialising in tools for the
engraving industry. Ulf recalls: "Since an increasing number of
engravers bought bigger "flat-bed" routing machines to satisfy
their customer’s needs and to produce bigger signs and letters, it was only
natural for Crown Norge to supply the tools necessary for such
applications."Today the company is the biggest supplier of tools to
engravers and signmakers in Norway. As well as a
full range of engraving tools, the company today carries a wide selection of
1-flute tools for aluminium, plastic, wood and 2-fluted special tools for
routing stainless steel. All tools are
made from solid premium grade micrograin carbide (sub-sub-micron).
Custom-made tools are available in small quantities and at affordable prices. The tool
manufacturer in the U.S. was established in 1947. Fifty per cent of their
production consists of calibrating tools, with customers like NASA, General
Motors, Ford, General Electric,… The other 50% of their production comprises
cutting tools, with Crown Norge as their biggest customer. In turn Crown
Norge, besides distributing to Norway itself, also export to Sweden, England and
Switzerland, particulary to the watch industry and its suppliers. Crown
Norge is constantly experimenting with new materials, coatings and additional treatments to
improve the performance and life-time of their tools. The company has
suppliers also in Germany, Switzerland and Italy who make tools after Crown
Norge’s specifications using the best available materials. Of special
interest to engravers is a new "Feinschmecker-tool" for engraving
stainless and hardened steel with very fine cutting angles and tip-sizes.
These tools are produced in Switzerland within a tolerance of only 5 microns
from a very fine-grained material with superior qualities. These tools are
perfectly balanced in order to reduce vibration to a minimum. To acchieve
best possible cutting abilities and increased life-time the tools are coated
with a brand new coating only 0,5 micron thick. Other news
from Crown Norge are 3D router bits and diamond (MKD) polishing tools for
acrylic. After working
together for 10 years, manufacturer and distributor now feel the time is
right to expand into the rest of Europe. Ulf is very much looking forward to
the prospect: "I am very excited about the proposed expantion and what
we can do for customers throughout Europe." The company
can offer quick delivery and competitive postage charges. Ulf point out:
"Our delivery time to most European countries is 2-4 days and our
charges are just the same as inland postage. And even though Crown Norge is
outside the EU, we invoice in Euro for most countries." The Company
has bank-accounts in Germany and Switzerland and payments can also be done
with VISA and Mastercard. Languages
spoken are English, German, French and Italian. You can
